Up for grabs is an absolutely incredible first year 1966 Yamaha SA-30 in a gorgeous transparent Alga Green finish. These sixties-era Yams are incredibly fun guitars and very well built. Featuring a distinct Yamaha-original body shape and design, this beauty channels a super cool, upmarket surf aesthetic loaded with quirky, innovative hardware. Between the funky tremolo system, roller nut, zero fret, and noiseless single-coil pickups wired to a pickup balancer knob, Yamaha was way ahead of its time in 1966. The build quality and materials are top-tier, and it immediately translates the second you pick it up. The neck has a comfortable, medium profile (think 1960 Les Paul) that feels great in the hand. Combined with a light, lively, fully hollow thinline body, it offers a ton of pizzazz and a highly rewarding playing experience. Tone-wise, this guitar is snappier with shorter sustain than your typical ES-335 style. There is a breathy openness to the attack that beautifully highlights the nuances of your playing. The fully hollow construction has mellowed to perfection over the last 50+ years, bringing a rich depth and warmth to the overall sound. Visually, the finish leans into a classy British Racing Green / Aston Martin aesthetic. It is a total visual delight and pure vintage MIJ charm! There are plenty of bumps and scuffs as you'd expect but has aged very well for a 60 year old Japanese semi acoustic!
