Vintage 1980 Japanese Matsumoko-Built Aria Pro II Strikin' Sounds Stratocaster

Vintage 1980 Japanese Matsumoko-Built Aria Pro II Strikin' Sounds Stratocaster

£545.00Price

For sale we have this beautifully built and immense playing 1980 Aria Pro II Strikin' Sound (probably an ST-600). It was produced at the Matsumoku factory in Japan. It was crafted during the golden age of high caliber Japanese Fender replicas. Taking its cues from the ‘50s Strat platform, this ST-600 features a sen ash body, maple neck and fretboard, one-ply white pickguard, and trio of alnico single coil pickups that all read in the mid 5k ohms range. The stock Aria SP-II pickups have a full sound with bold low end and sparkly trebles. The three-way pickup selector switch and individual tone controls for the neck and middle position offer a broad tonal palette from bell-like, round neck pickup warmth to bold, twangy snap. It may have had a refinish doing its lifetime as it is showing some pin-prick spots of lifting along the ash grain lines. Plenty of wear as you'd expect for 45 years old and the clearcoat has lifted on the headstock (pics). Neck is straight, truss rod working fine and the frets still have plenty of life in them. Weight is 3.4kg. Don't let this age related stuff put you off, this is a beautiful, responsive, superb-sounding vintage Stratocaster. Complete with vintage Japanese Yamaha fitted soft case, a little road worn but working fine.
