Very Rare Vintage Early 1970's Gaban Stratocaster Japanese Lawsuit Japan MIJ
Up for grabs is this very cool vintage early 1970s Japanese Gaban Olympic White Stratocaster. Gaban didn't last long but they made some superb Fender and Gibson clones back in the early 1970's. We rarely find any Gabon Stratocasters, mostly you will only see Les Pauls and Teles. The built date for this old beauty would have been somewhere around 1972-1974. It’s a great looking & playing old Strat from the Lawsuit era. It has a Sen ash body with a three piece maple neck, large resonant headstock and fast neck w/ 4 bolt neckplate. It's got a maple fingerboard, 3 ply scratchplate, all white plastics, and tremolo arm with 70's 3-way switching between the Maxon made pickups which sound superb it must be said. It was made in Japan either at Tokai or Kasuga (probably Kusuga for this one). It is well along the road to being a real vintage looker, with the original Olympic White finish darkening nicely. It plays beautifully and the old wood feels very resonant. Good solid weight too at 4kg. The medium rounded c profile neck is dead straight, truss rod is working fine and years left in the frets. The maple has darkened over the years and looks very cool. There are some dings/scratches on the guitar as you’d expect but nothing bad has ever happened to it. One tone knob has a crack in it but it still fully functional. This thing is a dream to play, resonant and balanced and has the classic looks of a true vintage aged Japanese Lawsuit Strat. As mentioned above, Gaban Strats do not turn up often (due to the very short build period) so it's always nice when were get one in, and all so far have been exceptional playing guitars. Including this old beauty. A very cool guitar. Complete with tremolo arm and softcase. Vintage Japan at its very best.
