Very Rare 1985 MIJ A-Serial Fender Jazzmaster Three Tone Sunburst FujiGen Built
This is just about the oldest Fender Japan Jazzmaster you are ever going to see. It is definitely the oldest we have ever come across at Gas Station Guitars, and believe me when I say we sell a LOT of Fender Japan offsets. You are looking at the 1st build Fender Japan ever made of a Jazzmaster. This is an A-Serial from the very first year of production at FujiGen (1985-1986). It was long before the current Jazzmaster revival so very few were ever made back then. As it was built for Fender at FujiGen the build quality is second to none, easily on par with anything you’d find coming out of the U.S and miles ahead of anything Mexican. A few notable differences between these rare A-serial Jazzies and every other MIJ/CIJ you will find is that the bodies were ever so slightly thicker and made from Sen ash (all later JM66s throughout the MIJ/CIJ/MIJ periods were alder bodied). They had better patterns on the red tort pickguards and serial numbers were stamped into the neckplates. This old 3TS Japanese beauty is in great condition for the age. It has a really cool vintage dull opaque finish, very nitro-like (although it will be thin poly) with a few checking lines. All the plastics have yellowed significantly. Some dings obviously but otherwise good clean condition all over. The sen ash grain is remarkable. Not something you see in the later MIJ/CIJ reissues. Also a bit heavier than modern MIJ Jazzmasters at 4.2kg due to the ash body. Nothing bad has happened to it. It’s had no repairs or breaks etc. The neck is dead straight, truss rod is working fine and there is no visible wear at all in the frets. Both electrical circuits are absolutely fine. This thing is a dream to play and has the classic looks of a true vintage aged Jazzmaster. A very cool guitar. Complete with Jazzmaster hardcase and tremolo arm. A little piece of Fender Japan offset history.
