H.S. Anderson 2011 Mad Cat HS-1 Morris Moridaira *Prince*
Here is the limited edition 2011 Japanese Morris Moridiera reissue of H.S Anderson’s legendary Mad Cat Telecaster. For those unaware, this was the guitar made famous by Prince. Only around 500 were ever built back in the early 70’s, a few of which were sent over to the U.S. and re-branded under Hohner. A young Prince found one of these rare guitars in his early days and it stayed with him throughout his career, he recorded Purple Rain and many other albums with his Mad Cat. These 45th anniversary reissues were not built in big numbers, and we don’t often find them for sale. This was built in 2011. They are amazing guitars in their own right, and were built in the same Moridiera plant in Japan where the original 70’s Mad Cats were made. It’s the real deal, not the more common Bill Lawrence model. It's a really high-end boutique looking and feeling Tele with a thick chunky neck, bound and flamed maple top and back over ash with a walnut centre. It has a thick chunky C profile maple neck with 21 frets, a 9.5 radius and a skunk stripe on the back. Another really cool feature on these HS Anderson models is the leopard-print binding. On all other models it is black. Weight is superb for one of these at 3.7kg. It’s voiced by great sounding USA Bill Lawrence T1 & T2 pickups with 3 way switching. It is in nice condition with no big paint chips or anything, just the occasional light dimple and light scuffing etc, it’s been very well cared for. It’s obviously had absolutely no breaks, repairs or mods. Neck is dead straight, plenty of life in the frets, truss rod fine. Comes with original SKB hybrid case. These Japanese H.S Anderson Madcats built at the original factory do not show up much. Dont miss it.
