Gibson USA Vintage 1997 ES 335 Figured Dot Yamano Japan Export Order Cherry

Gibson USA Vintage 1997 ES 335 Figured Dot Yamano Japan Export Order Cherry

£2,465.00Price

Here is a beautiful vintage 1997 Gibson ES 335 Dot in the best finish, Cherry! It’s fully original just as it came out of Gibson’s USA Nashville factory back in '97. We all know how good the 90's Gibson's were, but what makes this one extra special is that it was selected for export to Japan by Yamano, who it is said secured many of the greatest Gibsons of the 90’s & 2000’s. Although built in the USA like all Gibson guitars, this one would have been hand-selected by the Japanese reps to take back to Japan. It’s a genuine Japanese Yamano with associated Yamano certificate and hangtag. We recently brought it back from Tokyo. It’s a good looking 335 with a deep rich figured cherry red nitrocellulose finish. The Indian rosewood fingerboard is dark dense and has some nice light/dark brown contrast. There is some lovely subtle vintage ageing all over the plastics with the white binding turning yellow (which always looks classy against the cherry finish) and the metal hardware has light uniform ageing all over. The nitrocellulose is ageing beautifully.  Plays and sounds great with a comfortable slightly thinner 1960 profile neck carve. Due to the age you can feel the resonant old growth wood as soon as you pick this up and it’s a solid feeling 335, tipping the scales at 4.1kg. Very nicely balanced and exceptionally resonant. Neck is dead straight truss rod checked and functioning fine, plenty of life left in the frets, which still have the fret-end binding. There is some playwear but no bucklewear on the back. There is a little touched in blemish on the headstock but otherwise just minor surface scuffs an bumps with no big harsh paint chips etc. It is complete with its Japanese Yamano certificate & hangtag along with its original 90’s tan, pink-lined Gibson HSC with pink silk shroud. Case is functioning fine, a little tatty around the edges, latches dulled over the years with combi lock working. A real old Yamano beauty.
