Fender Vintage 1991 FujiGen Stratocaster K Serial Kurt Cobain 1962 RI Oly White
Here we have a very cool vintage Fender 1962 Reissue Stratocaster in aged Olympic White finish. It’s an early Fender Japan Strat built at the renowned FujiGen Gakki way back in the 1990-1991 period (it's an MIJ K-Serial). This is exactly the same model/year (MIJ K-serial prefix) that Kurt played on & off with Nirvana from around 1990 -’92 (they both became his disposable strats). Both were olympic white MIJ K serials just like this. One he finally destroyed in Argentina and I'm not sure what happened to the other one. Anyway it's a great playing Strat. Super resonant, nice balance and sounds very good. The neck is dead straight, truss rod fine, still plenty of life left in the frets. It has a dark and dense slab rosewood fingerboard (7.25 radius). Fender Stamped steel saddles and FujiGen-era Fender stamped neckplate. Structurally and electrically sound. Fine sounding factory fitted pickups. No issues at all. No breaks or repairs. No modifications. Good weight at 3.5kg. There is an absolute ton of vintage playwear and the finish has taken on a dull sheen. This old Strat is not for the faint hearted. The lacquer is patchy all over giving the guitar a very cool distinctive two-tone look. All the metal hardware has taken on a dull sheen with oxidation on the bridge & saddles and the plastic parts have yellowed with age. The A tuner partially has its guts handing out but tunes up and holds tune fine. No back plate. Overall its a very cool looking old warrior! Complete with vintage Japanese leatherette softcase, and replacement tremolo arm. A very cool original 1991 Fender Japan ’62 RI MIJ Strat with iconic links to Kurt.
