Here is a very rare Fender Japan Lucite Stratocaster built in 2004 (CIJ R-Serial). This model never appeared in official catalogues and is believed to have been a special-order instrument, likely commissioned for a Japanese retailer. It is the only example we have ever had at Gas Station Guitars.
 
The design appears loosely inspired by the legendary one-off 1957 Lucite Stratocaster owned by Bill Carson, featuring striking clear Lucite construction and elegant gold hardware throughout.
 
Despite the acrylic body, the guitar plays surprisingly well with comfortable action and excellent overall setup. As expected with Lucite construction, the instrument is on the heavier side at approximately 4.9 kg.
 
Because this was a non-catalog order, it is very well appointed with great-sounding USA ST single-coil pickups and full gold hardware: bridge, saddles, neck plate, tuning machines, and tremolo arm.
 
The maple neck features a vintage-style 7.25" radius fingerboard with dot inlays. The neck is straight, the truss rod functions correctly, and the frets still have plenty of life remaining. The guitar is structurally and electrically sound with no functional issues.
 
Cosmetically, there is typical playwear for its age. There are light scuffs visible mainly when angled toward the light, but nothing severe. The Lucite body shows minimal discoloration compared to many acrylic instruments of this era.
 
Includes a Stratocaster hard case and key.
