Epiphone 1991 Riviera Electric Guitar Cherry Finish Peerless Korea w/ Hardcase

£1,095.00Price

Here is a very nice early example of the sought after Korean Peerless Riviera. This particular model has been discontinued for a long time now and was famously used by the Strokes' Nick Valensi, who later had his own signature model. But this is the actual model he got famous playing. It was built in 1991 the well renowned Peerless factory in Korea. These Peerless Rivieras took over from Terada production. They like Terada, have been long discontinued now that production has been moved to China to cut costs, and don't come up much nowadays; they are very well thought of and becoming harder to find as their reputation grows. This one is a lovely semi-hollow. It is ageing very gracefully with a deep vibrant ’60s Era Cherry Red finish. The plastics and binding are starting to age to an off white and all the metal hardware still retains a deep shine. You feel how resonant this one is as soon as you pick it up. It plays beautifully with a medium action and the mini humbuckers boom as soon as you plug it in. There have been no breaks or repairs. It’s all original with no modifications. The pick guard has been removed so there are pickguard holes. There are a few scratches etc so obviously not mint but very nice for around 35 years old! Electrically and structurally sound. Neck is dead straight truss rod checked and functioning fine, plenty of life left in the frets. It’s a good weight at 3.3kg. It comes with its original Epiphone hardcase which is functioning fine. I’ll let the pics tell the rest of the story, this is a beautiful old Peerless Riviera. These Korean Rivieras are hard to come by & have gained a great reputation and are increasing in value. Don’t miss this one.
