Gibson Vintage 1982 Les Paul Custom Heritage Cherry Sunburst

We have some rock & roll royalty in this vintage 1982 Gibson Les Paul Custom.  It's a naturally reliced vintage Heritage Cherry Sunburst. I guess what Gibson/Murphy would now call a "Heavy Relic"; it's not for the faint-hearted but it's all natural and nothing bad has ever happened to it. This old warrior has all the good ageing with none of the nasty stuff. It has no breaks or repairs in its history. It has a dark dense Ebony fingerboard, somewhere between a ‘59-‘60 neck profile and weighs in at a hefty 5kg. Frets look fine (never been refretted, still has nibs), the truss rod is fine and the neck is straight. All electrics work perfectly and it's a great player with a very easy, resonant action. Neck has a comfortable fast action with some smooth natural paint wear. The usual buckle rash on back and general playwear.  Has all gold hardware including the original winding tuners. The pickups are Seymour Duncan JBs, absolutely right for this 80's monster, easy to dial in Jeff back to Steve Stevens but equally at home channeling Jerry Cantrell or Cobain. Amazing resonance and sustain to this one. Nice yellowed binding and plastics, the gold metal hardware is oxidised and there is finish checking in the lacquer. There is a little bit of binding missing from the headstock corner, one of the tone knobs is cracked and will need replacing as will the black  plastic switch tip. All little things easily fixed but worth mentioning, it's the kind of stuff you expect on an old Custom. The bottom strap pin has also been moved around leaving a couple of holes. It comes with later generation tan Gibson hardcase, all latches and combo lock working fine.  This is a very cool old  vintage Les Paul Custom. I’ll let the pics tell the rest of the story.
