Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus 1996 Yamano Honeyburst Non Chambered

£2,645.00Price

Here is an absolutely gorgeous example of a naturally aged Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus Heritage Sunburst AAA flametop. It has the kind of fine ageing that Tom Murphy would be proud of. But this is all natural. These 90’s classics are phenomenal guitars, and this particular Les Paul is a prime example of what have made them so sought-after in recent years. This is from 1996, (bang in the middle of Gibson’s good wood era), built in Gibson’s USA Nashville plant. It’s perhaps unsurprising that it was hand-selected by Yamano for export to Japan, which bears testimony to Yamano getting all the greatest Les Paul tops in the period they imported for Gibson. It is basically an early 1960 reissue. It has some superb maple flame all over; it looks amazing from whatever angle it’s viewed from. It has a real custom shop R0 VOS feel to it. We've tried to catch the top on this as best we can because it is striking. The nitro finish has dulled and there is lovely subtle nitro checking all over the the guitar; naturally aged to exactly the kind or pattern Gibson try to replicate with their historic relic reproductions. It even has a little patch or Greeny-esque wear at the bottom of the bridge pup. The binding has become a deep yellow and the metal hardware has taken on a vintage natural dull finish. Being a Classic it has a 60’s profile neck and weighs in at healthy non-chambered 4.3kg. It is all factory spec just as it came out of Nashville. The 469r/500t humbuckers sound great on this one. Heaps of life in the frets, the truss rod is fine and the neck is straight. No problems either structurally or electrically. Has a lovely dull naturally earned VOS finish all over. Some wear around the edges, and a little bumps and nicks on the top. All age appropriate wear for a mid 90’s Classic. Definitely not mint but all the better for it and well along the road to being a real vintage stunner. Gibson custom shop could use this guitar as an example how to perfectly age a Gibson Les Paul. Complete with original Japanese Yamano booklet, and original Gibson Tan, pink-lined HSC with silk shroud which is in also in good condition with all latches & combi-lock working fine. A very special 1996 Les Paul Classic Premium Plus from the great classic years.
