Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus Vintage 1992 Japan Yamano 1960 2nd Year Classic
Gibson 1960 Les Pauls don't get much better looking than this. Here is a beautifully aged vintage non-chambered Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus Yamano selected from 1992. A very early Classic which was originally a heritage sunburst finish but has now turned very dark. It's a fine example of the "good wood" early 90's Gibson guitars as well as the pre-Custom Shop builds. I'm loathe to call it a just a 'Classic Plus' because these really were something else altogether. There were some amazing guitars put out in the months just prior to the official christening of the Custom Shop in 1993. This is one of them. Historic 1960 specs that soon after were removed when dealers started complaining that the Classic line was outselling the Standard. This early Classic Plus features the proper "Les Paul Model" script on the headstock as well as thin cutaway binding and the proper abr-1 bridge setup. 2 out of 3 of these features disappeared in 1993 when the Custom Shop became official. These early classics have become increasingly sought after Les Pauls and this is testament to that; it looks and plays fantastic with plenty of subtle mojo going on. The original Gibson 496R/500T sound immense. It's had absolutely no breaks or repairs over the decades. Lots of life in the frets, neck dead straight and truss rod fine. No problems structurally or electrically. Weight is superb at 4kg! (Non-chambered remember…) Along with the lightly figured looks, the lighter weight was possibly another reason it was selected by Yamano. The binding and plastics have taken on an off-white/yellowed tone which looks good against this finish and the metal hardware has a nicely tarnished all over grey patina. There is fine nitrocellulose finish checking all over. It’s got plenty of natural playwear. You get all the great looking subtle ageing with none of the bad stuff. It's well along the road to being a real vintage stunner. No green inlays on this old beauty. Complete with original 1990’s Tan Gibson HSC with pink lining and silk shroud. Case worn but all latches fine and combi-lock are working with no problems. Complete with original Japanese Yamano booklet. A very special 1960's reissue Gibson Les Paul from the great Classic years.
