Fender Telecaster '62 Reissue Vintage FujiGen E-Serial 1988 Charcoal Burst P-90

£1,195.00Price

For sale is this vintage 1988 heavily modded Fender Japan 1962 RI Charcoal Burst Telecaster. It’s an E-serial built for Fender at the renowned FujiGen factory, the pencil neck date under the clearcoat on the neck heel dates it to 8th September 1988. These old FujiGen CCB Teles come up now and again but are pretty rare on the ground. They were designed & built by Fender Japan around 1988-90 then again briefly in 1995, long before the current relicing obsession kicked off. They’ve got a great worn and dirty look. They were domestic to Japan only, and never exported. I really like the mods on this one. Both are done extremely well. Firstly it has been routed for a P-90 to give it a bit of bite. The P-90 sounds angry and sharp, just as it should! The frets have also been scalloped from the 4th to 16th fret. Again this is done extremity well and it plays beautifully. It has a great medium to low action and is a good solid Tele weight at 3.3kg. It's very resonant, with equal measures warmth & brightness, which is all probably due to the (shock horror) American basswood body they used on these models, which some say could look a bit boring. Most definitely not the case here! This beautiful old Tele has got all the good stuff: dirtied-up maple fingerboard, chrome bridge and 3 saddles, 1 x (USA) TL vintage single coil & 1 x P-90  (great sounding although we haven’t identified it), black 3-ply guard & F stamped neck plate. Neck is dead straight, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets. No issues at all. There is plenty of playwear with bumps, dings and pain chips. You could consider this one a natural relic! It's getting pretty tough to pick these up now, and rarely do they look as good as this one. Complete gig bag. These were made in limited numbers and will never be made again.

At GSG we carefully hand-select all our guitars, if they don’t blow us away on all fronts, we just don’t put them in our shop; if it’s for sale by Gas Station Guitars, you know it’d gonna be pretty special.  All pictures are of actual guitar, we do not use stock photos. NOT FOR TRADE or part exchange, thanks. We ship to the E.U, Europe, U.S, Canada, Australia, NZ and of course the UK.
