Fender Japan Rare 1999 CIJ Tokai-Built 1966 Reissue Mustang Rare Fiesta Red

£995.00Price

Here is something we have never had before, and we have had a LOT of Fender Japan Mustangs at GSG over the years. It's an old '99 Fender Japan Tokai Gakki-built 1966 Reissue Mustang in very rare Fiesta Red finish. The main Fender Japan Mustang run reissues were MG65, MG69 and MG73. Very few ’66 Mustangs were ever built. The ones that were built were solely for the Japanese domestic market, so you won’t see too many outside Japan. We have had them in Oly White and even California Blue, but never a Fiesta Red before. Alder was used for these guitars, which makes them a little heavier, but they feel good! Very sturdy. To be honest, aside from the tonewood used and the MG-66 designation there aren't many differences between this and the MG65. It’s true to the vintage Fender ’65-66 spec, with the slab alder body, 7.25 radius Indian rosewood fingerboard, maple neck, white button tuners, F stamped neck plate and perloid scratch plate. It plays brilliantly too, very resonant and responsive with a good balance and plenty of Mustang attitude. It's has been played so if you like sterile Mexican Fenders this ‘stang it aint for you. Some little dings and scratches all over which gives it a cool look. If you are looking for a fantastic vintage spec Japanese built machine in an awesome factory colour with plenty of subtle vintage ageing then look no further! Neck is dead straight, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets and no mods, breaks, repairs or routing. Structurally and electrically sound. A good solid slab of alder for this one giving a total weight of 3.2kg. Complete with generic gig bag and original black-tipped tremolo arm. A rare MIJ '66 RI Mustang.

At Gas Station Guitars we carefully hand-select all our guitars, if they don’t blow us away on all fronts, we just don’t put them in our shop; if it’s for sale by Gas Station Guitars, you know it’d gonna be pretty special.  All pictures are of actual guitars, all guitars are in hand and we do not use stock photos. NOT FOR TRADE or part exchange, thanks. We ship worldwide to the USA, E.U, Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan and of course the UK.
