Fender 1969 Reissue Mustang MIJ 2005-06 Old Lake Placid Blue w/ Matching H/S

Here is a rare chance to get your hands on an original Fender Japan MG73 CO Mustang in Old Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock. It's the closest Fender have got the guitar Kurt Cobain played in Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' video. Kurt's was Lake Placid Blue (and obviously a lefty) and this is Old Lake Placid blue, but to me it's still pretty much as near as Fender have ever built to that guitar. Even Kurt's LPB signature model by Fender for some reason didn't have a matching headstock... (???) Anyway, Kurt aside, this is a rare vintage specification '73 Reissue. It’s a Q Serial CIJ (2002-04) in OLB with matching headstock & competition stripes. It has a very easy action with a dark streaked rosewood fingerboard complimented by a cream 3-ply perloid pickguard (now getting yellowed). The neck is dead straight, truss rod fine with plenty of life left in the frets. Structurally and electrically sound. Plenty of mojo going on with this iconic guitar. It is not mint by any stretch and there is some oxidation to the metal (looks good) and scuffs, bumps and scratches around the edges etc. A 2nd string tree has been added and there is a little extra screw holes on the treble side. The weight is 3.3kg. Comes complete with Mustang hardcase, original Fender Japan booklet and replacement threaded black tipped 5mm tremolo arm (just drops in and tightens as usual). Built immaculately as you'd expect from Fender Japan. A nicely worn in and very cool old Mustang with iconic connections to Nirvana. Please dont expect it to be mint because it is not. Don’t miss it, they don’t come up very often! No more are of these will ever be being by Fender Japan so now is the time to snap them up.
