Yamato Vintage Japanese Tombo Gakki SA Model Burl Poplar w/ HSC - Very Rare
Here we have a very rare and obscure (we have never seen another!) Yamato vintage 1960's or 70's SA type Hollowbody semi-hollow built (we think) at the Tombo Gakki in Japan. It has a beautiful figured Poplar (again, we think) top. Really nice vibe to this one, easily on par with any vintage 335 you’d find from any other classic Japanese brands of the time. It has a great looking rosewood fingerboard (pics) with a three-piece set neck with mother or pearl inlays and full neck and neck binding. Even more impressive than the looks are how good this thing actually plays! The resonance is superb as is the sustain. The pickups are clear and concise but with bluesy overtones. It has a traditional centre block construction with a weight of 3.3kg. Neck is dead straight, truss rod fine & plenty of life left in the frets. Structurally and electrically sound. No issues at all. It’s a great player which has seen some use over the decades but very clean indeed. Nothing bad has happened to it. There have been no breaks or repairs. All gold metal hardware has a nice uniform lightly aged vintage vibe. The binding has yellowed and is all still intact and tight. It is complete with fitted hardcase. A superb nice looking and playing Japanese 335 style rarity.
At Gas Station Guitars we carefully hand-select all our guitars and refuse a lot more than we accept, if they don’t blow us away on all fronts, we just don’t put them in our shop; if it’s for sale by Gas Station Guitars, you know it’d gonna be pretty special. All pictures are of actual guitars, all guitars are in hand and we do not use stock photos. NOT FOR TRADE or part exchange, thanks. We ship worldwide to the USA, E.U, Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan and of course the UK.
