Tokai Vintage Japanese LS-50 'Love Rock' Single Cutaway 1980 Ebony

The Tokais from 1979-1985 (Reborn (Old) & Love Rocks) are my absolute favourites of all of the vintage Japanese Les Pauls. The consistency in quality of finish and feel over the LS models through these years is astounding. I have never found a bad one. Up here is a really nice 1980 LS-50 ‘Love Rock’. Non-chambered Mahogany body with 3 piece maple top, set-neck and beautifully streaked rosewood fingerboard. Nice and light for one of these coming in at 4.2kg. Just solid dry old growth tonewoods here. You can feel the resonance. It’s got zebra humbuckers and a comfortable ‘59 profile neck. Moderate playwear as you'd expect for a vintage Japanese Les Paul. None of the clouding you sometimes see on the Tokai headstocks from this period. It has some lovely vintage ageing all over the plastics with the white binding turning off white and the metal hardware nicely tarnished giving it a really cool vibe. Well on it’s way to being a vintage looker. It is solid and chunky and plays like a good old Les Pauls should. Straight neck, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets.
