Gibson USA 2001 ES 335 Dot Yamano Japan Export Figured Cherry/ All Gold Hardware

£2,995.00Price

Lovely looking 2001 Gibson ES 335 Dot in figured cherry red with all gold hardware! It’s fully original just as it came out of Gibson’s USA Nashville factory back in '01 and is hands down one of my favourite 335s in the shop currently. Build date Oct 26th 2001. Perhaps unsurprisingly this one was selected for export to Japan by Yamano, who it is said secured many of the greatest Gibsons of the 90’s & 2000’s. Although built in the USA like all Gibson guitars, this one would have been hand-selected by the Japanese reps from many others to take back to Japan. It’s a genuine Japanese Yamano with associated Yamano booklet. It’s a stunning looking 335 with a deep rich figured cherry red nitrocellulose finish and nice subtle maple flame visible on the top back and sides. The Indian rosewood fingerboard is dark and nicely grained. There is some lovely subtle vintage ageing all over the plastics with the white binding turning yellow (which always looks classy against the cherry finish) which is set off by the factory installed all gold hardware with light uniform ageing all over. The nitrocellulose is beautiful and also retains a deep shine. Due to the age you can feel the resonant old growth wood as soon as you pick this up and it’s a solid feeling 335 tipping the scales at 3.9kg. Very nicely balanced and exceptionally resonant. Neck is dead straight truss rod checked and functioning fine, plenty of life left in the frets, which still have the fret-end binding. Very clean with just light playwear as you'd expect given the age but no big ugly dings or paint chips.  There is some scuffing that can be buffed and only a few little scratches etc. NO paint chips. Plays and sounds great with a comfortable slightly thinner profile neck carve, think somewhere between ’60 than ’59. It is complete with original tan Gibson HSC and Japanese Yamano booklet. Case is functioning fine, latches dulled over the years but combilock not working. A real old Yamano beauty.

We carefully hand-select all our guitars and refuse a lot more than we accept, if they don’t blow us away on all fronts, we just don’t put them in our shop; if it’s for sale by Gas Station Guitars, you know it’d gonna be pretty special. All pictures are of actual guitar, we do not use stock photos. NOT FOR TRADE or part exchange, thanks. We ship to the E.U, Europe, U.S, Canada, Australia, NZ and of course the UK.
