Gibson Memphis 2002 ES-335 Dot Highly Figured Vintage Sunburst Yamano Japan

Here we have a very special 335. It’s a 2002 Japanese Yamano selected vintage sunburst Gibson ES 335 Dot with a striking highly figured look and vintage feel. Unusually this one of only a limited number of ES-335s built in Gibson's Memphis plant back in 2002 instead of Nashville. It's better looking than any Custom Shop we've seen. It plays superbly, beautifully balanced yet feels very solid and is in full original condition. It has a comfortable '60's slim taper D profile neck which feels very fast and smooth to play. Build date is 2002 at Gibson’s Memphis plant (although there we so few of these built at Memphis during the time that the generic serial number search engines will probably designate it as a Nashville built guitar). This was built to be exported to Japan by Yamano to retail in the prominent guitar stores over there. Please read up on the Yamano era of Gibson if you are not aware of these amazing guitars. Anyway it is in fine condition for it's 22 years on earth. Along with the striking maple flame top the rosewood fingerboard is beautifully figured with lots of red showing. The nitrocellulose lacquer looks and feels very thin. The binding is nice and tight with no cracking. There is no buckle rash on the back. No notable big blemishes or dings anywhere. Just the occasional tiny dimple in the finish and very gentle playwear with some lovely subtle vintage ageing all over the plastics. The white binding turning cream and the metal hardware dull and nicely tarnished. This one is well along the road to being a real vintage looker. Neck is dead straight truss rod checked and functioning fine, plenty of life left in the frets, which still have their nibs. The original Classic '57's sound very articulate. Weighs in at a very good 3.8kg. It is complete with its original Gibson HSC and Japanese Yamano booklet and other paperwork. Case is functioning fine, latches dulled over the years.
