For sale we have this beautiful (and incredibly light!) Gibson Custom Shop 60th Anniversary 'Hand Selected' Les Paul Standard reissue. This was one of of a very small number of these 60th Anniversary R9s to be carefully hand selected from the Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, by the representatives of top Japanese dealers with the highest knowledge of Gibson Custom Instruments who took them back to Japan. An absolutely beautiful top on this one as you'd expect from a hand selected R9. Curly maple with wide flame and mineral streaking aplenty. It looks very much like a 'Green Lemon Fade' finish to us but the hand-selected certificate calls it 'Golden Poppy Burst'. Whatever the case it is stunning. The maple flame on this one has a top-quality vintage look. All original complete with case candy inc. certificate of authenticity booklet & also the separate corresponding hand selected certificate, both bearing the guitar's serial number. Has a beautiful dark vintage aged rosewood fingerboard with some superb swirling rosewood grain (pics). Unbelievably light at 3.7kg. Probably the lightest non-chambered Les Paul '59 historic we have ever had though the doors here at GSG. Obviously no issues at all, no breaks, repairs or modifications. Complete with original historic pink velvet crush lined Lifton reissue hard shell case also in great condition.  Has had the full VOS treatment from Gibson's custom shop. This represents the absolute best of the best when it comes to a 1959 Custom Shop reissue. We carefully hand-pick all our historic reissues, and only choose the very best tops.

The surprisingly lightweight mahogany body, 2-piece figured maple top, and solid rosewood fingerboard are only the beginning. Not only do you get the Authentic '59 Medium C neck profile so many players at Sweetwater adore, but the accuracy of the details go all the way down to the straight-line positioning of this Historic 1959 Les Paul Standard's vintage-style Kluson tuners, and the size and shape of its cellulose trapezoid inlays. 
 
CustomBucker pickups deliver vintage PAF tone. Gibson Custom paid just as much attention to the 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS's electronics as they did to its aesthetics. Beginning with vintage CTS potentiometers and bumble bee capacitors, every part of its internal signal path is designed to give you absolutely dead-on '59 Les Paul tone. Of course, it's next to impossible to find genuine '50s PAFs (even for Gibson). Instead, the Custom Shop 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS sports a pair of Gibson's CustomBucker humbuckers. The CustomBucker is the most historically accurate PAF copy ever. You just won't find another Les Paul that comes as close to the original look, sound, and feel of a '59 Les Paul!
