Gibson 1998 Les Paul Standard Honeyburst Yamano- Ordered Non-Chambered w/ OHSC
Up for grabs is this stunning looking vintage non-chambered Gibson Les Paul Standard Honeyburst from 1998. We brought this all the way back from Japan as it was the top that really caught my eye with this Les Paul. IMO its one on the best looking plaintop Standards we've in at GSG for a while. The 90’s standards are phenomenal guitars and this is testament to that; it looks and plays fantastic with plenty of old mojo going on... It was also a hand-selected Japanese Yamano order. I wont dwell on the Yamanos as there is plenty written about them already, but well worth reading up the 90's Yamanos if you are not aware of them.
This is a superb looking dark aged honeyburst Standard with pretty maple graining all over. Its birthday was June 16th, 1998. It’s true what they say about the 90’s Standards, they are amazing guitars. It has absolutely no breaks or repairs. Being a Standard it has a chunky '59 neck and weighs in at 4.5kg (Non-chambered remember…) Lots of life left in the frets, the truss rod is fine and the neck is straight. Has its original 490r/498t Gibson humbuckers which sound nice and hot. No problems structurally or electrically. The honeyburst finish has darkened over the decades, as have white plastics, the binding has aged to a deep yellow. It’s got all the good ageing with none of the bad stuff and is well along the road to being a real vintage looker. It’s almost a quarter of a century old now so there is obviously some playwear. But just light, with the regular little bumps and scuffs. Why anyone would choose a sterile new Les Paul over a beautiful old worn-in 90's Honeyburst Standard like this I will never understand. Complete with original 1990’s Tan Gibson HSC with pink lining and silk shroud and also it's original Japanese Yamano booklet. All latches fine and combilock is working with no problems. A very special 60's Gibson Les Paul honeyburst Standard from the good wood years.
