Fender Jazzmaster '66 RI FujiGen Built CIJ N-Serial Three Tone Sunburst

Fender Jazzmaster '66 RI FujiGen Built CIJ N-Serial Three Tone Sunburst

Here is a very cool late 90's Fender FujiGen built ’66 Reissue Jazzmaster factory finished in a beautiful warm Three Tone Sunburst. It’s a Fender Japan CIJ N-Serial. We don’t get many N-serials with a CIJ prefix so I’m gonna estimate the build date at around the beginning of the CIJ period (late 90's) as it could be an old left over Fujigen N-serial MIJ with the CIJ prefix added when production had shifted away from FujiGen to Tokai. Either way, it’s a very cool looking and superb playing '66 RI Jazzmaster. There is meticulous attention to detail, as you’d expect from a Japanese guitar built at Tokai or FujiGen. Unlike the current Mexican models it has all the classic 60’s specs you want to see including a lovely resonant alder body, maple neck & 7.25 radius Indian rosewood fingerboard. The rosewood used for the fingerboard is nice and dark. The naturally tinted amber maple neck feels great to play too. All the plastics have yellowed. A great weight at 3.6kg. It’s complete with a superb looking anodised gold scratchplate. These were all poly but the finish feels very thin on this one. No problems at all, straight neck, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets. No issues whatsoever either electrically on structurally. It's now at least a quarter of a century old so not mint, it has plenty of scuffing with a little bit of paint rubbed off on the back, and a few paint chips around the edges that have been touched in by the looks of it. No breaks, repairs, routing etc. Why anyone would choose a sterile new Mexican Jazzmaster over a superior built vintage beauty like this I will never understand. Complete with tremolo-arm and original period correct black Fender branded softcase with the front pocket zip broken as usual (please note it's not the brown leatherette softcase you see in the background of the first picture, that belongs with a different guitar). A pretty rare vintage Fender Japan Jazzmaster - you wont find many from this era.
