Fender Japan 1966 Reissue Mustang Rare Factory California Blue MIJ 2007
Here is a very cool Fender Japan California Blue 1966 Reissue Mustang (T-Serial MIJ 2007-2010). The main Fender Japan Mustang run reissues were MG65, MG69 and MG73. Very few ’66 Mustangs were ever built. The ones that were built were solely for the Japanese domestic market, so you won’t see too many outside Japan. Most were finished in Fender’s awesome California Blue, the only Fender Mustang to be factory finished in this colour. To be honest, aside from the colour and the MG-66 designation there many differences between this and the MG65. It’s true to the vintage Fender ’65-66 spec, with the slab alder body, 7.25 radius Indian rosewood fingerboard, white button tuners, 3-ply pickguard (pearl) and F-stamped neckplate. This one plays brilliantly, very resonant with plenty of Mustang attitude. Nice and clean with no notable big blemishes anywhere. Neck is dead straight, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets and no mods, breaks, repairs or routing. Structurally and electrically sound. A good solid slab of alder for this one giving a total weight of 3.4kg. Complete with gig bag and correct back tipped tremolo arm. Built immaculately as you'd expect from Fender Japan.
